# Suyeong Naengsam, Dongnae branch: thin pork belly, great fried rice

> A visit to the since-closed Dongnae branch of Suyeong Naengsam. The 1 mm frozen pork belly was affordable, and the fried rice was a great finish.

One thing first. The place I went to was the Dongnae branch of Suyeong Naengsam, and as I write this it has closed. It no longer shows up on Naver Map either. So the map and opening hours in this post are those of the main branch in Suyeong.

I went to the Dongnae branch with a friend at about 7 on a Monday evening. It was my first time at that branch, and I had been to the main branch in Suyeong before.

The restaurant sells quick-frozen pork belly sliced very thin, at 1 mm. The first meat order has to be at least 400 g. As I remember it we ordered about 500 g, though I am not certain.

Because the meat is thin, it cooks quickly. It is better to lay the slices out one at a time than to stack them.

It felt affordable, and the quality of the meat was fine. It went well with soju.

The Suyeong main branch is open daily from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., with last orders at 10 p.m. It has parking.

I am sorry the Dongnae branch is gone, but the main branch is still there, so I plan to go when I get the chance.

At the end we fried our own rice.

That fried rice was a very satisfying way to end the meal.
