# Makssereo Hoetjip, Oncheonjang: a fair platter with gizzard shad

> A sashimi place in Oncheonjang where three of us went after hagfish. We ordered the medium seasonal platter with gizzard shad. Fish and price were average.

After a little hagfish at [Wonjo Halmaejip](/en/blog/oncheonjang-wonjo-halmaejip-gomjangeo-20260925/), the three of us moved to a second place at about 7:30 on Friday evening. I thought the friend visiting from another city would be glad to have gizzard shad, so we chose a sashimi restaurant.

This is the place I meant to go to [last month, when I ended up at Namhae Hoetjip next door](/en/blog/oncheonjang-namhae-hoetjip-20260823/). Both then and now I could not see gizzard shad in the tank and wondered if it had sold out. This time I asked the owner, was told they had it, and went in. The tanks are out front by the entrance.

I am not that fond of gizzard shad. So rather than ordering it alone, I ordered it with the seasonal platter. At first I had the small in mind. The owner asked whether that would be enough for three, and I explained that we had already eaten. In the end we went with the medium, as my friend suggested.

Side dishes and seaweed soup came first, and the sashimi arrived while we were eating those.

The sashimi was fair, with nothing especially memorable. The price felt average too. I do not think I will come back here. It is open daily from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m.

When I judge a sashimi place, I have a habit of measuring its price, taste, and portions against [Kalmat Hoetjip near Pusan National University](/en/blog/jangjeon-kalmat-hoetjip-20260717/). I still have no regular sashimi place in Oncheonjang, so I plan to try others.
