# Gijang Gomjangeo in Haeundae: the spicy grill beat the salt grill

> A hagfish place in Jwa-dong that a friend recommended. The 80,000 won set has salt-grilled and spicy grilled hagfish. It was good, but the price felt high.

It was a Saturday in late summer. During the day I played in the water at the valley in the Jangsan forest park, and at about 6:30 in the evening I went to Gijang Gomjangeo for dinner. A friend had recommended it. The name has Gijang in it, but the restaurant is in Jwa-dong, Haeundae, close to Jangsan Station.

There were many guests. Several photos hang on the walls, and one is of a singer. I think it is a well-known place. At the entrance there is a spot where you fry your own egg. The limit is one per person.

We ordered the set with both salt-grilled and spicy grilled hagfish. It is 80,000 won. The price felt high. The side dishes come neatly laid out.

Before grilling, the look of the hagfish put me off a little. The salt-grilled one was seasoned enough without dipping it in more salt. It was good in a wrap with chives too.

I liked the spicy one more. I chose the slightly spicy level, and it was milder than Shin Ramyun, which was about right.

We ordered one fried rice and drank two bottles of Chamisul.
