# Woljeon, Gijang: 1 kg of eel for 30,000 won, fresh and plentiful

> The row of tent stalls at Woljeon in Gijang, where I went with family for lunch. One kilogram of eel cost 30,000 won and we grilled it over charcoal.

On Wednesday morning I went to the bank with family, and afterwards, talking about lunch, my family member brought up the eel at Woljeon. I drove, and we got there at about 1 in the afternoon.

Woljeon, in Jukseong-ri, Gijang, is where tent stalls cluster by the live fish market. You can park in front of the market, so we parked and went into a stall close by. I did not feel there was much difference between the stalls. Just pick one with a view of the sea.

We ordered 1 kg of eel, which was 30,000 won. Once you order, the market cleans it on the spot and brings it over. It was fresh enough that it was still moving after being cleaned.

We grilled it over charcoal. My family member did the grilling. It tasted good, and there was more of it than I expected. I think it would be enough even for two grown men. I recommend it if you want to eat eel with a sea view without spending much. Afterwards we stopped at a cafe nearby, [Opo](/en/blog/gijang-opo-20260930/).

The table setting charge is 6,000 won per person. Soft drinks and soju are set out first, and you pay only for what you drink. I was driving, so I did not have soju. The seating is outdoors, so it may not operate in some seasons.
