# Chicken with chives at Ondaljip in Dongnae: the familiar spicy taste

> A grilled chicken place in Dongnae where a friend and I went on a Saturday evening. The spicy chicken thigh with chives went well with soju.

I felt like charcoal-grilled chicken. The first place that came to mind was the grilled chicken bulgogi sold at the outdoor tables of Mexican Chicken Beom 5. But my friend was not keen on that place. It also turned out to be closed that day. So we went to Ondaljip, which we know well. It was about 7:30 on a Saturday evening.

I have come to Ondaljip with this friend several times. There is also [a note from a visit in April](/en/blog/dongnae-ondaljip-20260403/), and [another from September](/en/blog/dongnae-ondaljip-20260922/). You come out of exit 4 of Dongnae Station and walk, and it is close to the station.

It is a popular place, so I think there are times when people line up. That evening, though it was a Saturday, about four tables were free.

We ordered the charcoal-grilled chicken with chives. It is chicken thigh, 14,000 won per serving, and the minimum order is two servings.

It is a taste I know well. It is spicy, so it goes well with drinks. We ordered the late-night udon with it.

We caught up on each other's news, drank two bottles of Chamisul, and left. My friend said Mexican Chicken and Ondaljip do not taste very different, so there is no need to go all the way to Beom 5 and stand in line. I thought that was fair, to a degree.
